Mortice Lock Gain Entry

Mortice locks on your main front door need to conform with British Standard 3621 for insurance purposes. Time and time again I see what are known as "contractors' locks" installed, which are classed as sub-standard.

I recently attended an apartment where the client had lost his keys to a BS3621 mortice sash lock front door. Any respectable locksmith will tell you that without the right skill set and the right tools, these locks can be a nightmare to gain entry through, even for a highly skilled lockie.

The first port of call is to remove the door handle to identify the actual locking mechanism. That alone can be challenging, as there are numerous variations. Fortunately I recognised the offending article straight away and gained entry within a few minutes. From the customer's first call to completing this difficult locking mechanism took just over an hour.
