Old Church Bridge Ward Key Hand Cut

From time to time I come across jobs I love getting my teeth into. St Mary's Church, Bishopstoke, was one of those jobs.

I had a request to rebuild the main entry door mortice lock, fitted in 1890, after a forced entry caused major damage to the bolt and sash. Locks like this were built to be repaired, not thrown away, and with some careful work at the bench the mechanism came back to life.

The key itself had to be hand cut, an old bridge ward pattern you will not find on any modern key machine. The end result: a 130 year old lock doing its job again, on the same door it was made for.
